What this site is
SF Assistant posts a daily list of San Francisco apartments open for viewing. You can read the list without signing in. Signing in with Google reveals each apartment's full address and a link to its listing.
What we collect
Your email address and your name, and only when you choose to sign in. We request three things from Google: your sign-in identity, your email address, and your basic profile. Nothing else — not your contacts, not your files, not anything else in your Google account.
When you sign in we record your email address, your name, the time, which day's tour list you were looking at, and which link brought you here. As you use the site we record which listings and buttons you open. That is so we know who asked about what, and can follow up.
What you tell us about your search. If you answer questions about what you're looking for — budget, neighbourhoods, bedrooms, move-in date, commute, pets and similar — we keep those answers so we can show you apartments that fit. Every one of them is optional, and skipping any of them still shows you the addresses.
When you ask to book a tour. To ask a landlord for a viewing we need what a landlord asks for: the names of everyone in your household, a phone number, occupation and employer, and broad income and credit ranges. We ask for these only at the point you request a booking, never before, and we share them with a landlord only to arrange a viewing you have asked for.
What we do with it
- Keep you signed in, using a cookie in your browser
- Show you apartments that match what you've told us you want
- Know who asked about which apartments, so we can follow up
- Contact you about a viewing you asked about
- Ask a landlord for a viewing on your behalf, when you request one
- Send you the daily tour email, until you turn it off
We do not sell your information, and we do not post anything to your Google account or send anything on your behalf. Apart from giving a landlord what they need to agree to a viewing you asked for, we don't pass your details to anyone.
Cookies
One cookie, set when you sign in, holding your email address in signed form. It is not readable by scripts and it is not used to track you across other sites.
Email you get, and stopping it
If you sign in, we may send you the daily list of tours. You can stop it at any time fromyour settings, or from the unsubscribe link in any email — one click, nothing to explain. Stopping the email does not affect anything else; the tours stay readable on the site.
Deleting your data
Signing out clears the cookie. To have everything we hold about you deleted — your email address, your name, your search preferences, and anything you gave us to book a tour — emailsupport@sf-assistant.comand we will do it within 30 days.
